Call for Venues (Street Stages 2024)

The Greater Hartford Arts Council invites Hartford businesses to participate in Street Stages 2024, bringing live performances to downtown and the neighborhoods from early June through early September.

DEADLINE: March 15, 2024

Venue Eligibility Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Visibility: Venues must be high-visibility locations with regular foot traffic, ensuring maximum exposure for both businesses and artists.

  • Accessibility: Locations must be easily accessible to the general public.

  • Infrastructure: Venues must provide artists with access to electricity and restroom facilities. If restrooms are not available on-site, arrangements for nearby facilities must be coordinated by the venue.

  • Schedule: Venues will work with the Street Stages Project Coordinator to create a set schedule of performances for the duration of the program.

  • Promotion: Venues must agree to actively promote the artists performing at their location and their overall participation in the Street Stages program.

  • Artist Attendance: Venues are responsible for reporting artist attendance or non-attendance to the Arts Council promptly. This includes the number of artists who participated in the performance. This must happen for each scheduled performance.

  • Final Reporting: At the end of the program, venues are required to submit a final report (form provided by the Arts Council), detailing the impact of the Street Stages program on their business and the community.

What the Arts Council offers:

  • Artists Coordination: The Arts Council will coordinate the scheduling of artists, ensuring a diverse range of performances throughout the program. An assigned Project Coordinator from the Arts Council’s team will be the point person for participating venues.

  • Promotion Support: Venues will receive promotional material for the Street Stages program, including signage and logos. Businesses are required to display a Street Stages sign outside their venue to create awareness of the live performances.

  • Artist Payment: The Arts Council will handle all artist payments. Artists are paid an hourly rate of $200 for each artist who participates in the performance. Payment will only be issued to artists who complete their scheduled performance. Venues play a crucial role in reporting artist attendance to the Arts Council.
