In February 2010, the Greater Hartford Arts Council began a strategic planning process designed to set a vision and goal for an evolving organization facing a challenging economic climate. The Strategic Planning Committee conducted a thorough review of the organization's past strategic documents and organizational assessments, conducted surveys and interviews with key stakeholders and community members, solicited feedback from Arts Council staff and board members and analyzed emerging non-profit trends both locally and nationally. This strategic plan outlines a vision of the Arts Council from 2011 through 2015.
The research helped create a framework for redefining the Arts Council's mission and a series of goal statements identifying key areas of change that must be addressed. This strategic plan helps provide a blueprint for a healthy and stable organization to act as a leader of the arts, cultural and heritage community of Greater Hartford. Achieving these goals will help the Arts Council find and develop new sources of revenue, re-focus its grant programs and grantmaking strategies, build a stronger, more identifiable brand and fully realize the potential of its Board of Directors.
