Neighborhood Arts & Heritage Grants

The Greater Hartford Arts Council’s Neighborhood Arts & Heritage grants are available to organizations to support creative projects and programs by cultural, heritage, historical and social service organizations in the Greater Hartford region. The purpose of this grant program is to fund projects and programs which use arts and heritage to enrich the quality of life for its participants. These grants are funded through the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s United Arts Campaign, with special support from the United Way Community Campaign.
Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, not to exceed 50 percent of entire project/program budget. GHAC funding may be applied towards a variety of purposes including artist or instructor fees, materials and supplies, marketing and facility rentals.

The project or program must occur between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014.

Applications must be preceded by Intent to Apply. Please read Guidelines carefully for eligibility, grant conditions and correct application details.

All eligible applications are reviewed by a volunteer panel from the Greater Hartford community. Evaluations are based on the project or program’s community impact, project excellence and management plan. The panel presents its recommendations to the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s Board of Directors for final review and ratification.

All organizations are encouraged to submit project/program information to the Greater Hartford Arts Council’s Cultural Calendar, viewed by thousands of Greater Hartford residents and visitors every week. Be sure to list your program on the arts & entertainment calendar. In addition, your event may also be selected to be featured in the Arts Council’s 7-Day A&E Forecast email.

Please contact Elizabeth Hucker, Director of Community Investment, at or (860) 525-8629 ext. 231 for more information about this grant program.
