The Greater Hartford Arts Council is a leader and catalyst for the promotion, fundraising and coordination of arts and heritage programs that help celebrate our diverse cultures, enliven the spirit, and enrich the economy of Connecticut’s Capital Region. It is the largest independent arts council in New England, runs the 8th largest United Arts fund in the country and is a national leader in diversified services and cultural promotions. The Greater Hartford Arts Council has raised and invested over $54 million for the arts over 39 years, helping to rank Greater Hartford in the top 6 percent of metropolitan areas in North America for its arts and culture.
The United Arts Campaign supports more than 150 arts and heritage organizations in Greater Hartford.
The Greater Hartford Arts Council supports a cultural system in Greater Hartford that:
- Generates an economic impact of $244 million annually
- Attracts an audience of 4.8 million people, including 1.2 million children and youth under 18
- Supports 7,381 full-time jobs
- Generates $23.5 million in local and state tax revenue
- Augments local school budgets with $8 million-$10 million/year in educational programming
